Mrs K Furlong

High Ability Coordinator and Teacher of English

Here at The Westleigh School, we pride ourselves in offering our High Ability cohort the support and commitment they require to achieve their potential. Our High Ability students are recognised as more able learners and are offered further opportunities to progress their learning. We ensure that the curriculum offered to our High Ability students is challenging and yet motivating. We encourage our students to welcome opportunities for creative and productive thinking through a range of differentiated tasks.

We influence our students to progress into higher education, using regular enrichment activities as inspiration. This will also give our students the belief that they can go above and beyond the curriculum. As a school, we encourage all students to consider what they want from their education and to take responsibility for their own learning. Take a look at some of the enrichment activities taking place this year aimed specifically at our Higher Ability Cohort:

Our High Ability students must work with maximum effort consistently to achieve their potential. We expect our High Ability students to recognise their responsibility within the school and to approach their studies with commitment and dedication.
