Across the half-term break, faculty areas will be running Targeted Intervention sessions, specifically focused on addressing ‘gaps’ in knowledge and understanding and finalising Controlled Assessment, so that students are best placed to achieve their full potential by the end of Year 11. Click here to access a letter to parents/carers which includes a full timetable of sessions.
Students who have been requested to attend Targeted Intervention sessions will receive a personalised schedule. This will identify the subject, room and session time that they are expected to attend, so that staff can work intensively with them to address specific ‘gaps’ in their knowledge and understanding or controlled assessment.
It is essential that students attend any relevant sessions, so that they can take full advantage of this additional support from teaching staff. The potential impact on students’ progress by attending intervention sessions is significant and I welcome your full support in ensuring that your son or daughter attends if requested to do so. If your son or daughter is unable to attend a specific session, I would be grateful if you could contact the school in advance to avoid any unnecessary contact during half-term.
Members of the Senior Leadership Team are in school across the half-term break and have been asked to make contact with Parents/Carer of any student who fails to attend a specific intervention session, to follow up on the reason for this and to ensure that the safeguarding of students is maintained.
Teaching staff will also be informing students directly if they are required to attend specific sessions, however whilst not all students will be targeted, other students who wish to undertake additional work with staff in preparation for their final exams, should make arrangements directly with staff.
In addition, a Study Room will also be running Monday 19th – Friday 23rd February from 9:00am until 3:00pm in J5. Students who wish to take advantage of this provision should sign up at Pupil Office for the relevant day they wish to attend.
If you have any further queries, please contact Miss Brown [LPSO – Year 11] in the first instance.
