Over the past six weeks, in partnership with Be Well Wigan and bike mechanic Jonathan, our students have taken part in the fantastic DR BIKE programme, developing valuable practical skills in bicycle maintenance and repair.
Students learned how to:
- Carry out M-check safety inspections
- Change tyres and repair punctures
- Remove and replace rear cassettes
- Fix, repair and replace gear and brake levers
- Index gears and troubleshoot common faults
- Replace and maintain chains
- Repair and service braking systems, including disc and hydraulic brakes
- And much more!
Thanks to their hard work, we were able to donate two bikes and bring five others back to life, as well as carry out daily running repairs for many students' bikes.
We're delighted to announce that DR BIKE will be returning next year to give everyone's bikes a health check and carry out repairs.
The course will also be running again next year. If you're interested in getting involved, please speak to Mr Ladson or your Head of College. Spaces are limited, so don't miss out!
