Westleigh High School’s Sports Day took place on Thursday 23 June 2016 and a wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all!
On Tuesday 14 June Mr Ryan and a group of Year 8 students attended the Bloodhound Project at Manchester Metropolitan University The “Bloodhound Project” is an engineering, science and technology event where students have the opportunity to look at topics such as forces, speed, velocity and product design. On the day, students attended workshops aimed at developing knowledge and skills around these specialised topics. Students were also required to build a rocket car and came 3rd overall in the competition! It was a fun day and extremely enjoyable for all involved.
Y10 and Y7 students visited Wigan’s UTC on Thursday 16 June 2016 to enter a competition to design, build and race their model rocket cars on a purpose built racetrack. The students, who attend the Science Club, had designed and made rocket cars as part of a national competition.
Mr Killen asked students to ‘surprise him’ when he set a piece of History project homework. Students had to think about a specific historical moment and create a piece of project work which reflected that moment and be able to give a presentation about it to their classmates.
Mrs Powell organised a team of students and staff to compete in the Race for Life event at Pennington Flash on Sunday 5 June 2016.
